WENDY BISCUIT and the GRITS- SOMETHING NEW!!!
Join us for an evening of Cow- Punk Blues with "Wendy Biscuit and the Grits" debuting The Biscuit's own personal brand of original music backed by a powerhouse rhythm section comprised of Wayne Evans from the original Vancouver 1960's Rockabilly Band 'The Nocturnals' pumping a six string bass.. and from LA and Vancouver - world- class first- call renegade jazz drummer John Nolan on the cans.. For those of you who are well- acquainted with "Wendy Biscuit and her Dirty Swing Band" this will be a departure from what you're used to seeing.. same gal, same pipes- but very different, all- original material- not to mention she's holding a guitar again for the first time in a few years....
FLOPHOUSE JR. - A VANCOUVER FIXTURE
An informal openlng slot at the once great Southhill Candy Shop in the spring of '98 saw the introduction of flophouse jr to the Vancouver music scene. Initially a vehicle for songwriter Jon Wood to vent some acoustic frustrations away from the more electric Palace Flophouse, it quickly became an obsession of sonic economy. With an edgy innocence, flophouse jr has a unique take on the alt-pop and country scene.
